Our Mission Statement
We produce and sell t-shirts made of second-hand clothing items according to the principle of upcycling (using second-hand materials to create functionally “new” products). Our designs are wholly original, created by us, and are realized through a plethora of techniques, including - but certainly not limited to - sowing, the mixing-and-matching of elements from different clothing pieces, bleaching, and printing.
There’s also a service component to our project. Customers can send in requests or suggestions for personalized custom designs, which we will subsequently reproduce to the best of our abilities.
Our product is explicitly defined by its opposition to traditional clothing companies and their business practices. While those are infamous for their miserable working conditions, price-gouging and rampant overproduction (especially within the “fast fashion” sector), our goal is to provide an alternative through ethical and sustainable production.
In practical terms, we take old, otherwise-discarded clothing items and through our own creative designs and idiosyncratic production quirks “upcylce” them into (functionally speaking) “new” clothing, while maintaining lower profit margins and therefore keeping prices at a reasonable minimum. Thus, we distinguish ourselves from the competition by avoiding the usual pitfalls associated with their mode of production with all its implications on human health and dignity, and, of course, on the environment.
The environmental factor is especially important as that is the defining characteristic of our brand image. Through our adherence to upcycling as the leading principle of our productive activities, we hope to project a socially-conscious image to our customer base to distinguish ourselves even further.
